The National Association of County Intergovernmental Relations Officials (NACIRO) introduced a new honor at this year’s NACo Annual Conference -

the Intergovernmental Relations Official of the Year. This award celebrates exceptional leadership, dedication, and impact in the field of intergovernmental relations.

The first-ever recipient was Davin Suggs, Deputy Executive Director of the Florida Association of Counties.

Mr. Suggs was nominated by his peers, who highlighted his collaborative spirit, commitment to protecting local governments, and focus on mentorship for the next generation of intergovernmental professionals.

“Davin Suggs has built his career on strong, enduring relationships,” said one colleague. “Nearly 20 years at the Florida Association of Counties have earned him a reputation as a trusted advocate for local governments, always ensuring counties have a seat at the table in state and federal policy discussions. He’s always quick with a joke and is warmly welcomed in every office in the Florida Capitol, as both a friend and advisor.”

During the NACIRO Annual Business Meeting held last month in Philadelphia, Mr. Suggs delivered remarks that emphasized the importance of investing in others—getting to know what drives them and understanding their “why.” For him, that motivation is clearly his family. He said that everyone that works with him knows that his family is the driving force that motivates everything he does.

NACIRO would like to thank Mr. Suggs for his contributions to the field and congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition!
